There is no rest for the wicked! It may be summer and the footy season over, but Rangers continue to play the beautiful game in between seasons. Lead by Connie De Martino, Rangers took part in the Cambridgeshire Community Mini World Cup Tournament held on Colhams Common, held the third weekend in June. Rangers won three games and drew one which put us top of our group table. The compeition was arranged in a 7-a-side format with each game 10 minutes long.
In the semi-final, neither side was able to put a goal in the back of the net which led to penalties. This turned out to be a rather long process as most people had to take a penalty twice with a result not easily determined with both goal keepers doing extremely well to keep the ball out of the net. But as they say there can only be one winner and unfortunately Ranger's luck ran out and we bowed out of the semi-final 3-2 in penalties.
